The convergence between photography and artificial intelligence (AI) marks an important milestone in the evolution of this visual art. AI profoundly influences photography by enhancing image quality, creating special effects, automatically recognizing and classifying subjects, and even generating entirely new images. This combination offers unprecedented creative possibilities while raising questions about authenticity and image manipulation. AI tools enable photographers to explore innovative styles and techniques, correct imperfections, adjust colors, and restore old photos. Augmented Reality adds an additional dimension to these possibilities. However, the use of AI poses significant ethical concerns. The ease of manipulating images challenges the truthfulness and integrity of visual representations. Public trust in the authenticity of retouched or algorithm-generated images is increasingly contested. It is essential to examine both the creative benefits and the ethical implications of this fusion between photography and AI. By understanding these issues, we can appreciate the transformative potential of AI in photography while remaining vigilant to the challenges it poses to our perception of visual reality.
