Andrea Torrei Biography
Andrea Torrei is an Italian photographer who grew up in Italy where she graduated in Political Science being enthusiastic about history and law. She is based in Rome where her adventure in photography started some years ago. Her work spans the genres of portraiture, street and documentary, focusing on social issues with special attention to gender, motherhood, sense of community and identity. Women often play the centre stage of her work exploring their battles, changes and gains in different countries and cultures. She thinks that there is nothing more interesting and extraordinary than people and nothing is more rewarding than photographing their stories and delve into them and eventually always to take home precious lessons of life. Colors and light play a key role, color as narrative itself conveying emotions and evoking feelings. She has been winner and finalist in several photography contests (Female in Focus, Portrait of Humanity, The Smithsonian, The Independent Photographer to mention some) and published in Leica magazine, Museé Magazine, Dodho Magazine and others. Also her work has been showcased in many group exhibitions around the world. “Realities hidden within” is her first book published by Eyeshot Magazine.
